What it is
WTI (West Texas Intermediate) is a light US crude delivered in Cushing (Oklahoma). It is the benchmark for the US market and is priced in dollars per barrel on the NYMEX futures market in New York.
What moves it
The same as Brent (OPEC+, world demand, inventories, geopolitics and the dollar), plus shale output and US reserves. In April 2020, with storage full, the future even traded below zero.
How to invest
Through ETCs on oil futures (with the same cost of rolling from one future to the next) or through shares and ETFs of oil companies.

Why did WTI trade below zero in 2020?
With demand collapsing and Cushing storage almost full, holders of the May future paid to avoid taking delivery of the oil.
Why is WTI usually below Brent?
Because of the cost of shipping it to international markets and plentiful US production.
Which matters more, WTI or Brent?
They move almost in step; Brent weighs more on energy prices in Europe.
